In the immortal words of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince: it’s summer, summer, summertime – time to sit back and unwind. And look impossibly chic while doing so. (OK, maybe they didn’t say that last bit.) From surf-ready swimwear to the most Insta-worthy accessories, here’s our rundown of what’s hot in holidaywear this summer. Warning: you may get an urge to leave the country, pronto.
Ganni – bikini and cover-up top / Linda Farrow – sunglasses

The label to love
We’ve fallen head over heels for all things Ganni in recent years, so when we found out that its swimwear was launching at Selfridges just in time for summer, we did a little happy dance. Expect the Copenhagen-based brand’s signature playful prints, flattering shapes (we approve of the extra-coverage bikini bottoms) and whole lot of Scandi sass. Stay tuned as more Ganni swimwear will be arriving soon.
Solid & Striped – swimsuit / Le Specs – transparent sunglasses and tortoiseshell sunglasses

Surf’s up
With surfing to debut at the 2020 Olympics, and the sport on the rise in popularity as a wellness activity, it’s fair to say that surfing is having a moment right now – especially in fashion. Louis Vuitton, Fenty x Puma and Vionnet (exclusive to Selfridges) have all launched surf-inspired capsule collections in the past few months alone. Top of our wish list is Solid & Striped’s long-sleeved swimsuit – perfect for having your own ‘Kate Bosworth in Blue Crush’ moment. Or, you know, for actual surfing…

Lounge lover
With its effortless fusion of sleek beachwear, sleepwear and ready-to-wear, new-to-Selfridges label Asceno makes rolling from the pool, to a snooze on the sunlounger, to sundowners at the bar easier and more stylish than ever (not that it was ever particularly taxing…). Look out for the brand’s signature block stripes and elegant silk shirtdresses.
Zimmermann – bikini / PDN London – beach shirt / Givenchy – nano bag and belt (all sold out)

Get high-waisted
If the idea of flashing your midriff to fellow holiday-goers makes you wince, you’re in luck. This season’s offer of high-waisted swimwear accentuates the smallest part of your torso and contours curves, creating a flattering silhouette. Complete the look with a sleek white shirt (we love new-to-Selfridges label PDN London for its effortless Bond girl-ness) and a so-now belt bag slung round your elevated waistline (hello, adorable Givenchy number).

Happy hour
More special than a beach cover-up, more effortless than an evening dress – the holy grail of holidaywear is that multitasking piece that can be worn for all eventualities (we all know that suitcase space is precious). Three Graces’ beautiful earth-toned linen dresses will take you from sunlounger to sangria in a heartbeat – because it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right?
