THE BEAUTY INSIDER:
SALI HUGHES PICKS HER TOP 10 GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS
Busy ticking off your gift list but haven't the foggiest idea what to buy the beauty junkie in your life? Don't fret. Sali Hughes - journalist, author and all-round beauty obsessive - shares 10 perfect presents guaranteed to delight the most discerning beauty fiend.
FREDERIC MALLE, L'EAU D'HIVER PARFUM
There are few perfumes from Frederic Malle's expertly curated collection that I don't love, but L'Eau D'Hiver is my favourite of all. It is a warm, clear, nutty scent that is both elegant and hugely comforting in winter months. A masterpiece.
PENHALIGON'S SCENT LIBRARY
Penhaligon's is a precious British heritage perfumery with several high-quality, iconic perfumes to its name. This is a wonderful way to sample the perfume house's wares and acquire an impressive fragrance portfolio in one fell swoop.
DYSON SUPERSONIC HAIRDRYER
I'll admit, I was sceptical initially, but now I can't live without the Dyson hairdryer. This ultra-light, beautifully designed dryer halves my getting-ready time, and the digital controls and magnetic attachments are a nice touch of luxury. My other half loves it, too.
DIPTYQUE BAIES CANDLE
This is my candle of choice for long baths, cosy evenings and quiet Sunday afternoons with a book. A beautiful blend of sweet, rich Bulgarian roses and sharp, green blackcurrant leaves, it must be smelled to be believed. Just beware of cheaper imitations: Diptyque candles have the most wonderful throw - just 30 minutes of burn time should scent your home all day.
TONY MOLY MINI GREEN APPLE LIP BALM
I just adore the strong sense of fun in Korean beauty brands, and Tony Moly is my favourite of all of them. The cute, kitsch packaging makes for the best stocking fillers, and this balm leaves a lovely soft sheen - no stickiness - on the lips. I like to blend it into lip liner with my finger for a natural-looking tint.
SALI HUGHES PRETTY ICONIC
With over 200 of the most world-changing beauty products of all time - from the perfume your nana wore, to the lipstick you wore on your first date, to the nail polish that sent the fashion pack into meltdown - my second book is a love letter to the lotions, potions, scents, sticks, tubes and pencils that built us. I'm told you'll shriek with recognition at all the things you once owned.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY THE GOLDEN GODDESS LOOK GIFT BOX
Charlotte Tilbury eye palettes are the ones I carry in my professional kit. The pigments are true and blendable, the shade choices are intelligent and logical, and application is a cinch. No shade is ever wasted - you will use them all. The complimentary products in this gift box make it a no-brainer. Christmas party make-up sorted.
LAURA MERCIER SWEET TEMPTATIONS DUET
Laura Mercier bath and body care is on my Christmas list every single year, without fail. I love the sweet, skin-softening honey bath for long, lavish soaks and the rich, whipped crème for yet more moisturising afterwards. It fills the whole house with the smell of pudding - who wouldn't want that?
EXCLUSIVE LISA BEA COSMETICS POUCH
Predictably, I'm a sucker for a gorgeous make-up bag and I find it cheering to rotate them according to season. For Christmas, I want something suitably glitzy and fun like this little beauty from Lisa Bea. Too pretty.
EXCLUSIVE NANNETTE DE GASPÉ RESTORATIVE TECHSTILE FACE MASQUE
I'm certain beauty fans will be hearing so much more about De Gaspé in the coming years. Her dry, reusable sheet masks are unique and deliver fantastic results. This one creates firm, hydrated, vibrant-looking skin in just one use, making it the perfect pre-party treatment.
